stairs-descend

Good morning…

Life-changing experiences shape us into our best selves, one checkmark after another. Let me tell you what I mean.

We all know what a checkmark looks like, right? A descending line. Touching down to a bottom base before changing the trajectory of motion. The uptick of an ascending line growing to a higher level than ever before. (If the line returned to the same level, we would form a “V” not a check mark.) Okay, hang with me, this may seem a little weird.

I am a visual learner, my heart retains deep meaning through symbols my eyes can see. I visualize every life-changing experience as our descent down into the Holy Spirit within. Resting again at our bottom base of God’s unconditional love, we are saturated by a deep knowing that we are safely held before we slowly begin to change the trajectory of our motion. We gradually rise up to a higher level of living, empowered by God, a higher level of everyday faith than we ever thought possible.

I suppose life is a series of significant checkmarks. At key life-changing moments, we die to what was, touch our core base of God’s love, before being lifted to a higher level than we ever before.

What significant checkmarks have shaped most your everyday faith over your lifetime of love?

Changing the word “them” to “us” six times, we personalize this key Scripture verse. And having chosen us, he called us to come to him. And having called us, he gave us right standing with himself. And having given us right standing, he gave us his glory. What shall we say about such wonderful things as these? If God is for us, who can ever be against us? Since he did not spare even his own Son but gave him up for us all, won’t he also give us everything else? (Romans 8:30-32, NLT).
