Good Morning…
As we fix our thoughts on God and trust the LORD to give us perfect peace (Isaiah 26:3), we are strengthened to endure our most excruciating hours. Resonating with God’s encouragement to fix and to trust, a subscriber I have never met wrote me after yesterday’s post, “Our Peace Depends on Two Short Verbs.”
She wrote: “Dear Sue, I have a friend whose husband (late 50’s) has been struggling with colon cancer just diagnosed this summer and all of a sudden they are looking at hospice. Her update today asks for prayers for peace, wisdom and guidance. Then I opened your blog – what a perfect reply to her. Thank you for your beautiful thoughts everyday.”
I naturally responded: “I am so sorry for your friend, her husband, their family and friends. You all have my prayers for God’s peace, wisdom and guidance. Hospice care in our 50s is not what our hearts expect. But you are right, this is the perfect Word from God today: ‘Fix your thoughts on Me. Trust Me. Be held in My perfect peace.’
Might I use our beautiful life-giving interchange, anonymously, in a future blog? I think it might help people to see how God’s Word can simply, steadily sustain us on our darkest of days. I love that your friend has you.”
She responded: “Yes, please do.”
People with their minds set on you,
you keep completely whole,
Steady on their feet,
because they keep at it and don’t quit.
Depend on God and keep at it
because in the Lord God you have a sure thing (Isaiah 26:3, MSG).
…Sue…
