Spiritual Growth Groups

The role of a spiritual director is not to create the flame of the Holy Spirit (only God can do this), but to tend it like a warming campfire. Listen to our invitation recorded in 2 Timothy 1:6-7: I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you… For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline. In a group setting, twice a month, we will tend to the unique gifts of God set ablaze in our souls.

Wordless Prayer Cards

Our soul is our deepest identity, our True Self created by God, the one-of-a-kind blueprint implanted within our innermost being. As we listen to the Holy Spirit tucked deep inside, we are empowered to walk in step with the living God. With a large variety of collaging supplies set out for our enjoyment, we will spend two hours each month creating wordless prayer cards, colorful cards which give voice to God’s guiding voice stirring in our souls.

Exploring our Soul in the Sand

Our soul is the eternal seed of God planted deep in our inner soil. This uniquely gifted part of us grows organically and speaks symbolically. Might we learn to listen for the guidance of God growing at the core of our being? Sandtray is a creative, therapeutic way of exploring through miniature symbols what our soul might be trying to say to us in this very moment. Month after month, we will listen for the wisdom of the Holy Spirit sprouting from within.

 Weekly Book Studies

Semester by semester, the Spirit draws small groups of women to fascinating, faith-based books to nurture our soul. Studies meet mornings, afternoons, and evenings each day throughout the week, at Northside Church or in Sue’s home. Fall study groups typically begin the week after Labor Day and finish before Thanksgiving. Spring studies typically gather from mid-January to the end of April. Topics vary and all groups regularly welcome new members.
