Good morning…

Yesterday at 6:11 am, I pressed “send” on my blog message entitled, “Unraveled, We Are Re-woven.” At 7:24 am, a subscriber sent me yesterday’s words from Sarah Young’s Jesus Calling. Amplifying the voice of God, her message concludes: “You inhabit a fallen, disjointed world, where things are constantly unraveling around the edges. Only a vibrant relationship with Me can keep you from unraveling too.”

When is the last time you read the word unravel twice in one day, from two different sources? Never before has that happened to me, so my inner ears perked up, “God what are You trying to teach us?”

Researching the word, I learned that to unravel means to disentangle individual threads. To take apart, undo. To free from complication. To make plain and clear. To decipher or disengage. To unwind or unlace. To separate or solve.

Sometimes I think we are deathly afraid of our life unraveling, falling apart, fraying at the edges. We cling to the old complicated, because we know it, because we love/hate it, because we are fans of familiarity. Yet, might God yearn to unravel the individual threads of our daily lives to re-weave a more magnificent tapestry?

I sense God re-lacing Sarah Young’s final words: “Only a vibrant relationship with Me can help you to unravel safely, securely as I re-weave the fabric of your everyday life for My life-saving purposes.”

Again, yesterday’s biblical strand is made plain and clear: I want you woven into a tapestry of love, in touch with everything there is to know of God. Then you will have minds confident and at rest, focused on Christ, God’s great mystery. All the richest treasures of wisdom and knowledge are embedded in that mystery and nowhere else. And we’ve been shown the mystery! (Colossians 2:2-3, MSG).
