Good morning…
As this fall semester comes to an end before our winter/spring semester begins, it dawns on me that I have been blogging most days since the fall of 2015. Ten years of waking in the wee hours, opening up two-way-street veins of private prayer, seeking to discern the presence, the patterns, the power of our living Lord.
Like any living thing, there are ebbs and there are flows. Growth spurts and slow silence. Changing seasons awaken to new while remaining connected to old.
The Spirit stirs in this very moment.
This is what the Lord says—
he who made a way through the sea,
a path through the mighty waters…
“Forget the former things;
do not dwell on the past.
See, I am doing a new thing!
Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?
I am making a way in the wilderness
and streams in the wasteland.”
– Isaiah 43:16, 18-19 (NIV)
There is a lot of wilderness in the landscape of our lives, dry wasteland thirsting for refreshment. God has made a way before. Again, God will clear for us a pathway through. Former things are finished. Let’s not dwell on the past. Look. See. God is doing a new thing!
With these verses from the Bible, I am reminded now of the song we sang to our four young kids as we tucked them each into bed for years. It is a new thing for me to experience the original artist singing this simple song, recorded almost ten years ago.
As the old year ends and the new year begins, what new things do you perceive springing up, inside and around you?
…Sue…
