Good morning... I recently met this sign at a restaurant in Madison, Georgia. As we savor C.O.F.F.E.E this morning, might we give thanks for God's enduring truth? Christ Offers Forgiveness For Everyone Everywhere. I am reminded of the lyrics from a song that the kids in our youth group loved to sing in the 1990's, Breathe Deep by [...]
Good morning... When our new Associate Pastor, Rev. Dana Ezell, spoke to our Morning Mission Circle last Tuesday, she talked about two ordinary women who followed the call of God and changed the course of history. She shared with us this fascinating story from Exodus 1:15-20 (CEB). The king of Egypt spoke to two Hebrew midwives named Shiphrah [...]
Good morning... As I reflect upon the service celebrating Jessica Martin's life, I think about a Scripture read by the pastor. The sun has one kind of glory, while the moon and stars each have another kind. And even the stars differ from each other in their glory. It is the same way with the resurrection of the [...]
Good morning... Soon after she read yesterday's post She Died Unexpectedly, a close friend texted me the encouraging prayer pictured above. “Here’s another way to put it: You’re here to be light, bringing out the God-colors in the world. God is not a secret to be kept. We’re going public with this, as public as a city on [...]
Good morning... Friend #1 recently sent me this image which brings to life the quote: "Both fear and faith ask you to believe in something you can't see. You choose." "Hi Sue!" she commented. "I’ve never heard this before! It’s so simple but it’s 🎯." I totally agree. When hard things happen, we have a choice. Will we [...]
Good morning... "You asked me this morning what did I remember most about my cancer journey," she emailed me yesterday. "Through all the pain, anguish, and unknowing answers with cancer, this cruel disease has many benefits," she explained. "It was probably, no it was, my closest time with God. I could not have visitors. I could not go [...]
Good morning... We are on the cusp of a new semester. Cusp. I love that little word. A point of transition between two different states. On the verge of what comes next. An interval of time just before the onset of something new. Brink. Edge. Threshold. This week, as we begin a new semester of learning in our [...]
Good morning... What Is Your Star Word? we asked in yesterday's post, a single word guiding you into the living presence of the Christ child, Emmanuel, God-with-us. For 2026, my star word is SIMPLIFY. The Dictionary.com definition reads: "to make less complicated, clearer, or easier." Clarify. Cut down. Reduce. Shorten. Streamline. SIMPLIFY. We live in a complicated world [...]
Good morning... As this fall semester comes to an end before our winter/spring semester begins, it dawns on me that I have been blogging most days since the fall of 2015. Ten years of waking in the wee hours, opening up two-way-street veins of private prayer, seeking to discern the presence, the patterns, the power of our living [...]
Good morning... My favorite Christmas song reached me when Steve and I were newlyweds. The acapella group Glad harmonized the meaning of that first Christmas morn with their song In the First Light. This special song was produced in 1988, when I was 25 years old. Enjoy these lyrics before experiencing this powerful song. In the first light [...]
