Good morning…
On my back porch, I ate my lunch in the post-storm sunshine. A butterfly flew around the corner of our home and rested on the table right beside me. Watching me as I watched her, she inched closer and fanned her black wings, spotted with shimmering turquoise and gold. I was amazed as this bold, brave creature jumped from the table onto my t-shirt, walking her way up to nestle near my neck. In peace we paused together. For two minutes, maybe three, we quietly gazed with each another.
“What are you here to teach me?” I eventually whispered.
Over time, I sensed her answer: “My freedom to fly was born from the death of my caterpillar self.”
What a God we have! And how fortunate we are to have him, this Father of our Master Jesus! Because Jesus was raised from the dead, we’ve been given a brand-new life and have everything to live for, including a future in heaven—and the future starts now! God is keeping careful watch over us and the future. The Day is coming when you’ll have it all—life healed and whole (1 Peter 1:3-5, MSG).
