Good morning…

As she journeys with her daughter who is battling cancer, I email her encouragement when the Spirit nudges.

This morning, I unhook the painting from the wall in our half bathroom, an original painting a friend gave me after we studied Kay Warren’s book Choose Joy: Because Happiness Isn’t Enough. I turn over this peaceful piece of art to read the taped-on copy of my friend’s favorite book quotes.

“Joy is the settled assurance that God is in control of all of the details of my life, the quiet confidence that ultimately everything is going to be all right, and the determined choice to praise God in all things.”

“One day, in the brightness of his coming, we will meet him face to face. And when we do, the tracks of joy and sorrow will merge. The sorrow will disappear forever, and only the joy will remain.”

Emailing these quotes to this loving mother who is beautifully supporting her courageous daughter, I pray these truths over all of us now: “May sorrow disappear and only joy remain.”

I assure you and most solemnly say to you, that you will weep and grieve [in great mourning]…You will be sorrowful, but your sorrow will be turned into joy (John 16:20, AMP).
