Good Morning…

His emaciated body was loudly struggling for each breath. As I curled up beside him in bed, I rested my hand on his boney back and whispered in his ear, “You’re doing a great job getting yourself to heaven. You’re almost there. In just a little while, you’ll be welcomed home.”

The next day he passed over to paradise. Pain-free. Pampered. Palpably present with God. He will wipe all tears from their eyes, and there will be no more death, suffering, crying, or pain. These things of the past are gone forever (Revelation 21:4, NIV).

Both in his life and in his death, he continually encouraged me to sense God’s magnetic pull forward, letting go of what currently is, when the time is right, to grab hold of all that the future invites. When we vividly envision where our loved ones are headed and we trust that they will eventually welcome us home, it is easier to let them go.

Focusing on our loved one’s completed joy balances our grieving pain until we reunite, forever free of tears.
