Good morning…

I knew I would be cutting time close when I scheduled the appointment last week, but, as an eternal optimist, I thought, “I can do that, then I can go there.” Then when an important, long-standing “there” moved up its start time, my newly committed “that” would no longer fit without rushing. As I opened myself up to God’s guidance, praying in the bathtub at the start of my day, I sensed the Holy Spirit nudge, “Just reschedule that appointment.” So, I picked up the phone, I cancelled the appointment, and I felt freedom relieve my heightening stress.

I think one of the biggest gifts of ongoing, conversational prayer is the peaceful wisdom given when we ask God and wait, when we sense and obey, “LORD, on Your agenda for my day, is this opportunity a ‘yes’ or a ‘no’?”

God yearns to help prioritize each of our 24-hours. When we live our day listening, the Holy Spirit can calmly coax, “This is primary. That is peripheral.”

This is what the Lord says… “Plow up the hard ground of your hearts! Do not waste your good seed among thorns” (Jeremiah 4:3, NLT).
