Good morning…
“I must die like a kernel of wheat that falls into the furrows of the earth,” says our friend Jesus in John 12:24, (TLB). “Unless I die, I will be alone, a single seed. But my death will produce many new wheat kernels – a plentiful harvest of new lives.”
Seeking to fend off death, we want badly to cling to the single seed of the life we know and love, to hold tight to the unique kernel of wheat growing in our loved ones. But if we are to follow in Jesus footsteps to a life of authenticity, we will face various forms of death along life’s way. Death of a relationship or death of a beloved life phase. Death of a career, a marriage, or a dream. Death of our well-guarded, false self and eventually death of our time-limited, human bodies.
With each death, we ground into the hope of Jesus Christ our Lord. “My death will produce new wheat kernels and each of your deaths will do the same. Together we will implant a plentiful harvest of new lives.”
