Good morning…
Through a series of mishaps, we met in the grocery store parking lot, me loading my trunk, she driving up in her SUV. I was delayed since I went back for a few items I had forgotten my first time through the check out line. “Ugh.” She had forgotten to take home some items she had purchased, so she was driving back to the store to retrieve them. Double “Ugh.” But because of our forgetful mishaps, God’s timing lined up and we met in the grocery store parking lot.
She said, “I just have to tell you I loved your blog today. I forwarded it to five people, one whose child revealed he is gay, another who is battling cancer, still another who mother just died,” and her very loving, personal list went on. “Your post touched on all of these hard issues so many of us face. And I heard back from all of my friends that your words were very comforting. So thank you.”
I said, “How wonderful. Thanks for passing along today’s post. Your encouragement makes my day.”
She said, “I really think God wanted you to hear, face to face, how important your words are to me and to many.”
What meaningful mishaps lined up just right for God to offer through my friend words of encouragement to water and feed my soul, to throwing more seeds into our soil for sowing and growing.
Into the hovels of the poor,
Into the dark streets where the homeless groan, God speaks:
“I’ve had enough; I’m on my way
To heal the ache in the heart of the wretched.”
God’s words are pure words,
Pure silver words refined seven times
In the fires of his word-kiln,
Pure on earth as well as in heaven (Psalm 12:5-6, MSG).
