Good morning…

Proverbs are words of wisdom spoken to guide us. I met an interesting one this morning. Proverbs 26:1-2 in the Amplified Bible says, “Like snow in summer and like rain in harvest, so honor is not fitting for a [shortsighted] fool. Like the sparrow in her wandering, like the swallow in her flying, so the curse without cause does not come and alight [on the undeserving].”

Snow in summer is highly unlikely. Rain and harvest do not mix well. A sense of true honor does not settle on a fool with short sight. On the flip side of the same coin, a wrong rumor or bad reputation will not land and stick on a person who does not deserve it.

What we sow now, we will eventually reap. Like a sparrow in her wandering, like a swallow in her flying, a curse without cause will not make a nest in our tree. Instead, if we live with integrity, honor and esteem will surround and support us. Held accountable for our own choices, this proverb stabilizes our inner peace during a tumultuous time. What we sow now, we will eventually reap.

And the Lord said…“Why are you so angry? And why do you look annoyed? If you do well [believing Me and doing what is acceptable and pleasing to Me], will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well [but ignore My instruction], sin crouches at your door; its desire is for you [to overpower you], but you must master it,” (Genesis 4:6-7, AMP).

Honor and integrity are built on believing God, doing what pleases the LORD.
Ignore God’s wisdom? Sin crouches close, waiting to pounce and to overpower.
We all face the same choice every day, “Will we ignore or will we please God?”
