Good morning…
“The silence of God is the greatest test of our faith,” says German theologian Helmut Thielicke. Yet, he continues, “The silence of God and Jesus is not of indifference. It is the silence of higher thoughts. God is fitting stone to stone in His plan for the world and our lives, even though we can see only a confused and meaningless jumble of stones heaped together under a silent heaven.”
Though our eyes “can see only a confused and meaningless jumble of stones heaped together,” does our faith trust that God is fitting stone to stone His plan for our lives and for our world?
The Lord says:
“My thoughts and my ways
are not like yours.
Just as the heavens
are higher than the earth,
my thoughts and my ways
are higher than yours.
Rain and snow fall from the sky.
But they don’t return
without watering the earth
that produces seeds to plant
and grain to eat.
That’s how it is with my words.
They don’t return to me
without doing everything
I send them to do,” (Isaiah 55:8-11, CEV).
As you sit in extended silence today, which of God’s higher words rain down to water you?
