Good morning…
It seems to me, we have a choice to make. We can mindlessly let time take us or we can prayerfully learn the art of taking time.
In Ephesians 5:11-16 (MSG), I discover a clarifying call to action. Don’t waste your time on useless work, mere busywork, the barren pursuits of darkness (unconsciously numbing, going through the mindless motions, asleep to God’s invitation into abundant life). Expose these things for the sham they are. It’s a scandal when people waste their lives on things they must do in the darkness where no one will see (covering up our true selves, armoring ourselves with little white lies, self-protecting behind a well-dressed smile and a jam-packed agenda). Rip the cover off those frauds (those defenses, those smoke screens, those people-pleasing tactics) and see how attractive they look in the light of Christ.
Wake up from your sleep,
Climb out of your coffins;
Christ will show you the light!
So watch your step.
Use your head.
Make the most of every chance you get.
These are desperate times!
In these desperate times, we are called to step from the shadows of mere busywork, to stop wasting our lives in dark dead-ends while the moments of our lives tick away steadily. Chronos (clock time) and kairos (spiritually ripe time) line up right now. NOW is the perfect moment to wake from sleep, to climb out of our coffins, to trust our living LORD to illuminate our personal pathway to abundant life.
It seems we have a choice to make. Either we mindlessly allow time to take us or we prayerfully learn the art of taking time.
“Living LORD, please teach me the art of taking illuminating time with You.”
