Good morning…
“Your talent is God’s gift to you. What you do with it is your gift back to God,” observes Leo Buscaglia. I know I have heard those words before, but they took on a deeper meaning as I read aloud the following words to our captivated class.
“Let me sum up what I’ve learned about creativity from the world of Wholehearted living and loving:
1) ‘I’m not very creative’ doesn’t work. There’s no such thing as creative people and non-creative people. There are only people who use their creativity and people who don’t. Unused creativity doesn’t just disappear. It lives within us until it’s expressed, neglected to death, or suffocated by resentment or fear.
2) The only unique contribution we will ever make in this world will be born out of our creativity.
3) If we want to make meaning, we need to make art. Cook, write, draw, doodle, paint, scrapbook, take pictures, collage, knit, rebuild an engine, sculpt, dance, decorate, act, sing – it doesn’t matter. As long as we’re creating, we’re cultivating meaning.” (p. 96 in Brene Brown’s The Gifts of Imperfection)
We are designed to make a unique contribution to the salvation-puzzle God is piecing together with all of creation. The one-of-a-kind gift tucked inside each of us does not fulfill its divine purpose until it is shared with the world. This is why I remind you to fan into flames the spiritual gift God gave you (1 Timothy 1:6, NLT). Our fanning process can begin with this prayer, “LORD, before I was born you placed Your unique ember in me. Help me to fan into fire the special spark of Your Spirit.”
Do not quench [subdue, or be unresponsive to the working and guidance of] the [Holy] Spirit (1 Thessalonians 5:19, AMP).
