Good morning…
On 2.12.16, I read this interesting headline on national news. “Teenager steals Air Jordans in Craigslist robbery and has his arm severed in horrific accident.” Since I am co-teaching Christian Active Parenting, a parenting program in which we discuss supporting children with encouragement, clear communication, and the expression of honest emotions as they learn life lessons through natural consequences, my brain perked up, “Now, there is a harsh natural consequence for you. Steal shoes, lose an arm.” Thanks to the strong arm of natural consequences, I doubt this young man will ever steal another pair of Air Jordans.
Sometimes life teaches us through experience, and experience often sinks in deeper than words. God shepherds us parents, as we shepherd our youngsters. Together, we all learn God’s ancient wisdom resounding in life’s natural consequences.
He tends his flock like a shepherd:
He gathers the lambs in his arms
and carries them close to his heart;
he gently leads those that have young, Isaiah 40:11 (NIV),
