Good morning…

This chain letter phenomenon is becoming divinely comical (see my blog posts from 1.28.16, 1.29.16, and 1.30.16). I guess God does use this mysterious online vehicle to meander into open hearts. Be amazed with me at the email I received yesterday from a friend.

“Dear Sue… I do not like receiving those pass-long emails either. A part of me gets a little nervous when I don’t respond! Who doesn’t want to be guaranteed a blessing? But I have never followed through on those chains letters…until Friday.

I read your blog and the attached prayer and was struck by the perfection of His timing. This was one time that I had the perfect vehicle to carry the message to 8 women.

Friday morning, I led a group of 8 women to Friajanes, Costa Rica to engage with the women of the town there, supporting and encouraging them. These women are marginalized, abused, and, as many do in developing countries, suffer in silence. We had an opportunity to help them tell their stories, encouraging them and letting them know their worth. Their pastor, Roy Soto, has encouraged them as well and has renovated a beautiful space that will be the “Centro de Attention y Capacitation Integral para las Mujeres” – the Center for the Attention and Comprehensive Training of Women. A beautiful space for spiritual and physiological healing and growth.

I had been asked to speak and share my testimony that evening since I am fluent in Spanish. It was not so much how I came to know God, but how I, too, am struggling with who I am and my identity as my many titles (daughter, sister, mother, , ….) all fade and change. How I struggle with my own self worth and want to be more than I am, developing a passion that God calls me to. I talked about being less Martha and more Mary. I talked about the only way to get there and re-identify myself was to sit as God’s feet and quiet my soul and listen. I closed with the prayer you attached to your email. It translated beautifully and I heard a lot of “Amens” and “Alleluias.”

My 8 original receivers multiplied to 45 and will be shared with more now. I will never look at those chains letters again in the same way and will remember the one time I did pass one on, not so that I would be blessed, but that others would be blessed.”

Have you ever come on anything quite like this extravagant generosity of God, this deep, deep wisdom? It’s way over our heads. We’ll never figure it out. Is there anyone around who can explain God? Anyone smart enough to tell him what to do? Anyone who has done him such a huge favor that God has to ask his advice? Everything comes from him; Everything happens through him; Everything ends up in him. Always glory! Always praise! Yes. Yes. Yes. Romans 11:33-36 (MSG),
