Good morning…
This weekend, I was touched deeply by a strong, gentle voice reading aloud these words. I was touched deeply enough to ask later for a copy of the blessing, a blessing I now quietly, lovingly pass along to you.
an image of God
born of God’s breath
vessel of divine love
after his likeness
dwelling of God
capacity for the infinite
eternally known
chosen of God
home of Infinite Majesty
abiding in the Son
called for eternity
live in the Lord
temple of the Holy Spirit
branch of Christ
receptacle of the Most High
wellspring of Living Water
heir of the kingdom
the glory of God
abode of the Trinity.
God sings this litany
eternally in his word.
This is who you are.
The litany of the person – anonymous Trappist monk
Since the seed of each phrase lives in the Bible, I invite you to join me on a private treasure hunt, seeking and finding these unique kernels of truth implanted in God’s Word. I invite you to copy these words, as I will, placing them near your mirror, savoring them every time you brush clean your dirty teeth. I invite you to stand firm right beside me, rooted in your unique, God-given identity, silencing, shedding the loud, subtle lies raging inside and around. As God transforms us inside out, we gradually grow to see ourselves like our Creator forever see us, since the beginning of time.
…the wisdom we speak of is the mystery of God—his plan that was previously hidden, even though he made it for our ultimate glory before the world began. But the rulers of this world have not understood it; if they had, they would not have crucified our glorious Lord. That is what the Scriptures mean when they say,
“No eye has seen, no ear has heard,
and no mind has imagined
what God has prepared
for those who love him.”
But it was to us that God revealed these things by his Spirit. For his Spirit searches out everything and shows us God’s deep secrets, 1 Corinthians 2:7-10 (NLT),
