Good morning…

In the bleak mid winter, we crave spring. Pondering the work, I recognize that “spring” has four distinct definitions.

Spring is a noun, a source of fresh water running endlessly beneath the earth’s surface.
Spring is a different noun, an annual season in which new life bursts forth across life’s landscape.
Spring is another noun, a resilient metal device exerting constant tension or absorbing movement.
Spring is a verb, to come into being from a constrained position. To arise or to pop up, to sprout or to burst through suddenly, unexpectedly.

These four distinct definitions are separate and interconnected. As we tap into the fresh water of God’s living Spirit running endlessly within us, the LORD’s resilience absorbs life’s constant tension and a new season emerges in our life of faith. New buds of belief. New blossoms of understanding. New fruits to feed others burst onto our branch. From beneath our constrained human nature, God’s Spirit sprouts up from within and the LORD’s loving presence comes into being to nurture the people we live with each day.

Day after day, share generously …the faith and love that spring from the hope stored up for you in heaven…which you have already heard in the true message of the gospel that has come to you. In the same way, the gospel is bearing fruit and growing throughout the whole world—just as it has been doing among you since the day you heard it and truly understood God’s grace, Colossians 1:5-6 (NIV),
