Good morning…

Progress is an interesting word. When we emphasize the first syllable, progress, then the word is a noun, meaning onward movement toward a goal or to a more advanced stage. Growth or unfolding. Evolution or development. Breakthrough or advancement. When we emphasize the second syllable, progress, the word becomes a verb, meaning to grow or develop in scope, severity, or complexity. To better or to advance. To increase or to improve.

God does not call any of us to a ministry of perfection. God calls us each to a ministry of progression. Day after day, we are invited to look closely at our lives and to discern diligently our doctrine as we unfold and evolve, as we mature and advance. Our world falsely pushes perfection as an attainable goal. The perfect body. The perfect family. The perfect package, flawless. Yet, when we stop striving for perfection and we start settling into our progression, we bask in the full acceptance of our Heavenly Father. Friends, that’s exactly who we are: children of God. And that’s only the beginning. Who knows how we’ll end up! What we know is that when Christ is openly revealed, we’ll see him—and in seeing him, become like him. All of us who look forward to his Coming stay ready, with the glistening purity of Jesus’ life as a model for our own, 1 John 3:2-3 (MSG). As we are coaxed by our Creator to progress gradually into the characteristics of Christ, others will see our daily progress. Expanding in and through us, God’s transforming power will better the world.

…I know that I shall remain and stay by you all,
to promote your progress and joy in believing, Philippians 1:25b (AMP),
