Good morning…
“Blessed are the flexable, for they shall not be bent out of shape,” says the church sign welcoming the holidays.
To be “bent out of shape” implies that we start with a strong, solid shape in mind. Consciously or unconsciously, we think we know how the holidays “should” go, “should” look, “should” feel. Yet our best laid plans clash with unmet hopes, glitches galore, and off-track timing. With the unexpected to be expected, we are forced to decide.
Will I allow myself to be “bent out of shape”? Angry, annoyed, agitated. Insulted, infuriated, incapacitated. Displeased, disappointed, disconcerted. Mad, misshapen, miserable.
Or will I be flexible? Capable of bending easily without breaking. Pliable. Supple. Bendable. Able to be easily modified to respond to altered circumstances. Adaptable. Versatile. Open-ended. Ready and able to change in response to the needs of others. Easygoing. Accommodating. Willing to compromise.
“Blessed are the flexable, for they shall not be bent out of shape,” says the church sign welcoming the holidays.
“Blessed [spiritually calm with life-joy in God’s favor] are the makers and maintainers of peace, for they will [express His character and] be called the sons (and daughters) of God” (Matthew 5:9, AMP).
