Happy Thanksgiving…
As we focus on what “is” gratitude grows.
“Will I stop focusing forever on what was not given to me,” wonders Paula D’Arcy, “and stop regretting the gifts that were brief?” That is a challenging question. Stop focusing on not. Stop regretting brief. As long as we focus forever on what was not given and repeatedly regret gifts that were brief, we will cause ourselves pain.
As we focus on what “is” gratitude grows.
“Will I see the beauty right before me?” Paula asks. “Will I risk my heart and fully experience being here? Will I say yes to the life I am being offered?” (146-147) Will we stop focusing on not, stop regretting brief, to see God’s cornucopia of care, color, compassion?
As we focus on what “is” gratitude grows.
Let the peace of Christ [the inner calm of one who walks daily with Him] be the controlling factor in your hearts [deciding and settling questions that arise]. To this peace indeed you were called as members in one body [of believers]. And be thankful [to God always] (Colossians 3:15, AMP).
