Good morning…
I am sensing God inviting us to develop a new habit. “Savor This Sunday” will be a fresh feature added to our everyday blog. Every Sunday we take extended time to savor the spiritual growth we are experiencing together, week after week. Summing up the Spirit’s wisdom, Sundays will offer an overview of each daily message with an easy link to revisit posts we may have loved or messages we may have missed.
Sunday is a sacred day set aside by God to rest, to refresh, to reflect upon everything the LORD is doing in our very midst. This week our focus phrase is “God’s Inner Light.”
Monday: As long as we focus forever on what was not given and repeatedly regret gifts that were brief, we will cause ourselves pain. As we focus on what “is” gratitude grows.
Tuesday: “Blessed are the flexable, for they shall not be bent out of shape,” says the church sign welcoming the holidays. Yet our best laid plans clash with reality. We must repeatedly decide: Will I be flexible or be bent out of shape?
Wednesday: My heart kneels down to lift up my prayer: “In their darkest hours, give them each a friend with whom they can be silent.” Now my heart asks more: “And, God, let that friend be You.”
Thursday: What matters is not the circumstances, but what’s breaking through them, pushing through them, pushing through me, moving me toward a different birth. I have to decide for myself, will I, or will I not, let this Love show me what is possible?
Friday: Empowered by the strength of God’s indwelling Spirit, we nip from our branch unsightly buds, we let go of self-criticism, and we nestle our focus back into the connecting care of our life-giving Vine. We remain at home in God as God remains at home in us.
Saturday: Along life’s way, holiday grief is something many of us endure. We do not choose to lose people we love so dearly, yet God’s guiding light glows in our darkness. We all have the Spirit’s pilot light within. Sometimes we just need someone to help ignite it.
“The eye is the lamp of the body; so if your eye is clear [spiritually perceptive], your whole body will be full of light [benefiting from God’s precepts]” (Matthew 6:22, AMP).
