Good morning…
“Sad songs, they say so much,” sings a lyric many of us know. Yet “sad” is relative and “saying so much” is important for every one of us.
The music at yesterday’s memorial service honoring J Schroeder, beloved 61-year-old husband and dad, son, brother, friend, was moving and meaningful. The following song invited us to quietly wade into a deep ocean of emotions. Accompanied by guitar, mandolin, and fiddle, these life-giving lyrics lifted us up as we celebrated J together.

The great unknown where feet may fail
And there I find You in the mystery
In oceans deep
My faith will stand
And keep my eyes above the waves
When oceans rise, my soul will rest in Your embrace
For I am Yours and You are mine
Your sovereign hand
Will be my guide
Where feet may fail and fear surrounds me
You’ve never failed and You won’t start now
And keep my eyes above the waves
When oceans rise, my soul will rest in Your embrace
For I am Yours and You are mine
Let me walk upon the waters
Wherever You would call me
Take me deeper than my feet could ever wander
And my faith will be made stronger
In the presence of my Savior
Creator of earth and heaven, oceans and emotions, life and death, “You rule over the surging sea: When its waves rise up, it’s you who makes them still” (Psalm 89:9, CEB).

P.S. This morning, I invite you to wade barefoot into these wonder-filled waves, allowing God to still your own deep ocean of emotions.
