Good morning…

“The quieter you become, the more you are able to hear,” say the words on a framed treasure from Goodwill.

I stare at the wisdom, thinking to myself, “That sounds really nice, but I have been quiet now for an uncomfortably long time, and I cannot seem to hear one darn, divine thing.” Possibilities perks up before dying down.

Writer’s block is a real thing. Hearer’s block is real too. Might there also be times when God purposefully waits with us without words?

God, the one and only— I’ll wait as long as he says. Everything I need comes from him, so why not? He’s solid rock under my feet, breathing room for my soul, an impregnable castle: I’m set for life (Psalm 62:1-2, MSG).
