Good morning…

After being shaped by the diligent joy of writing to you each morning, I often go back into our blog post and edit as the Spirit moves. Yesterday that happened. Making our message more concise and most life-giving, I re-wrote our final sentence to read: “As we stay right in the center of God’s endless love, Christ’s constant companionship displaces the worry in our heart and at our core we begin to trust: ‘Wonderful is happening.'”

I re-wrote our final sentence then immediately I opened Henri Nouwen’s daily meditation for January 3rd, 2020. I marveled as the Spirit of our living LORD continued our heart-to-Heart conversation through the wise words of Henri.

Your Heart is the Center of Your Being
In the biblical understanding, our heart is at the center of our being. It’s not a muscle, but a symbol for the very center of our being. Now the beautiful thing about the heart is that the heart is the place where we are most ourselves. It is the very core of our being, the spiritual center of our being. Solitude and silence, for instance, are ways to get to the heart, because the heart is the place where God speaks to us, where we hear the voice that calls us beloved. This is precisely the most intimate place. In the famous story, Elijah was standing in front of the cave. God was not in the storm, God was not in the fire and not in the earthquake, but God was in that soft little voice (see 1 Kings 19: 11–12). That soft little voice … speaks to the heart. Prayer and solitude are ways to listen to the voice that speaks to our heart, in the center of our being. One of the most amazing things is that if you enter deeper and deeper into that place, you not only meet God, but you meet the whole world there. – Henri Nouwen

After I diligently write heart-to-Heart with God each morning, in the quietness of your home you read heart-to-Heart, and together we enter deeper and deeper into the strong core of our collective being. Morning by morning, we not only meet our loving LORD heart-to-Heart, we also meet vulnerable strength in one another. Together, from our deepest center, we witness the living Christ rising up in us to gradually meet the needs of the whole world.

Watch over your heart with all diligence, for from it flow the springs of life (Proverbs 4:23, AMP).
