pond-pedals

Good morning…

I have been with people as they have taken their last breath. Sacred. Surreal. The eternal spirit leaves the still body.

Life, lovely while it lasts, is soon over.
Life as we know it, precious and beautiful, ends.
The body is put back in the same ground it came from.
The spirit returns to God, who first breathed it (Ecclesiastes 12:7, MSG).

With each additional death recorded during this worldwide pandemic, I think of the grieving families who are not given the choice to be with their loved ones during their final moments on earth. It makes me sad for the gracious goodbye this virus silently steals.

Yet in those transitioning moments, God is there. God sees. God holds. God welcomes home.

Each day I pray that God’s intimate loving care is enough, for those dying and for those struggling to live on.
