Good morning…
One of my all time favorite Scripture passages is John 6:43-46 in The Message translation.
Jesus said, “Don’t bicker among yourselves over me. You’re not in charge here. The Father who sent me is in charge. He draws people to me—that’s the only way you’ll ever come. Only then do I do my work, putting people together, setting them on their feet, ready for the End. This is what the prophets meant when they wrote, ‘And then they will all be personally taught by God.’ Anyone who has spent any time at all listening to the Father, really listening and therefore learning, comes to me to be taught personally—to see it with his own eyes, hear it with his own ears, from me, since I have it firsthand from the Father. No one has seen the Father except the One who has his Being alongside the Father—and you can see me.”
Why do I love these verses so much? They help me to trust that God is doing God’s work in my life and in the life of all of my friends, all of my family members, and all of my enemies. Our Father is in charge here. We are not. God draws people to Jesus whenever and however God wants to draw people. Then Christ takes over, putting each of us together, setting our feet on solid ground, preparing us for an eternity of living together in harmony.
“We will all personally be taught by God.” Isn’t that a marvelous promise?
When the moment is right, each one of us will come to Jesus personally, seeing with our own eyes, hearing with our own ears, gaining deep wisdom taught firsthand by our Father. Jesus Christ is the living and active “bonding force” healing our broken world, which leads us to another set of verses I absolutely adore.
He is the exact living image [the essential manifestation] of the unseen God [the visible representation of the invisible], the firstborn [the preeminent one, the sovereign, and the originator] of all creation. For by Him all things were created in heaven and on earth, [things] visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities; all things were created and exist through Him [that is, by His activity] and for Him. And He Himself existed and is before all things, and in Him all things hold together. [His is the controlling, cohesive force of the universe.] (Colossians 14:15-17, AMP).
Knit together in our mother’s womb, each one of us is designed for oneness with God. When God’s time is right, we will all be drawn to the Trinity, God the Father, Jesus the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. On that day, we will begin to see ourselves as we truly are, fruitful fractals of our Heavenly Father. This third beloved verse gives me joy for today and hope for tomorrow.
Because God made humans in his image reflecting God’s very nature. You’re here to bear fruit, reproduce, lavish life on the Earth, live bountifully! (Genesis 9:7, MSG).
How do you sense these three beloved Scripture passages tenderly transforming your own life today?
