Good morning…
“I loved your devotional about feeling “torn to pieces” and God pulling us out of the hole,” she wrote, referring to our exploration of Psalm 40:2 (VOICE), He reached down and drew me out of the deep, dark hole where I was stranded, mired in the muck and clay. With a gentle hand, He pulled me out to set me down safely on a warm rock; He held me until I was steady enough to continue the journey again.
“That is exactly what God has done for me,” she shared. “I have a picture on my bathroom mirror that shows the ocean deep and the words: The Lord reached down from above and took hold of me: he pulled me out of the deep waters. – Psalm 18:16.”
“I saw this picture soon after my dear daughter died, copied it, put it on the mirror and claimed it everyday,” she explained. “Everyday I looked at it and reread. Claimed it again and again, as I thought I would drown in my grief from losing my precious girl. God saved me. God is faithful to his Word. I will send you a picture :)).”
“Oh, how beautiful,” I replied. “Such a loving image to wake up to each day. God is so intimate and tender, so personal in the way He reaches down and lifts us up. So many of us can relate to the ‘deep dark hole’ experience. I love this visual of God lifting you up through your grief.”
Lord, have mercy. I am in misery. My eyes are weak from so much crying. My whole being is tired from grief (Psalm 31:9, ICB). My soul melteth for heaviness: raise me up according to thy word (Psalm 119:28, GNV). He raises the poor from the dust; he lifts the needy from their misery (Psalm 113:7, GNT). …in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning (Psalm 30:5b, BRG).
