handless-clock

Good morning…

I love this hand-painted clock that lives in our basement. It is a clock with no hands which mysteriously sets itself to God’s perfect timing. I just experienced a moment of God-ordained timing.

I have been up since 4:30 am working on this morning’s blog post with God. Just as I was about to push “send,” an email arrived in my inbox from Julie Harlan’s amazing mother. Remember? Julie is my dear, faithful friend who died at age forty-one, four years ago today. Before leaving earth for heaven, Julie left us a detailed outline for Julie’s Dream, a non-profit quickly established in her honor “to give disadvantaged children in Atlanta the hope and love of Jesus Christ through awesome wilderness experiences and outdoor adventures.”

“❤️✝️❤️” were the emojis beneath her mother’s email heading: “Chad’s post on Facebook today.”

Julie’s smiling photo and her husband’s loving words bring tears to my eyes. Tears of missing. Tears of gratitude. Tears of amazement at how much one life can empower so many.

On this Good Friday morn, I will tour for the first time the multifaceted ministry of PAWkids, a non-profit agency in our community supported by the generous funds and the incredible volunteers of Julie’s Dream. How does Julie Harlan continue to do this? How in the heck was Julie able to enlist her unmatched organizational skills to set up an appointment for me with LaTonya Gates, PAWkids founder, as we creatively collaborate at 10:00 am today, on the fourth anniversary of Julie’s warm welcome into heaven?

I guess it is all part of God’s mysteriously perfect timing.

Who could ever wrap their minds around the riches of God, the depth of his wisdom, and the marvel of his perfect knowledge? Who could ever explain the wonder of his decisions or search out the mysterious way he carries out his plans? (Romans 11:33, TPT).
