Good morning…
Our soul stirs, soothes, speaks, as we walk quietly into the woods, sit patiently at the base of a tree, and fade into our surroundings like Parker Palmer recommends in A Hidden Wholeness. “You will likely be surprised at what your soul wants to say to God,” concludes Ruth Haley Barton.
As we unpack authentic intimacy as a class in our home, we notice the growth of each unique soul. In the safety of attentive listening, we learn to rest in God’s nearness. We notice God speaking. Together we seek to feel what God feels, to see what God sees.
As I sit and open my eyes amid this small group of multi-aged women, some new to the group, some who have sat in this safe circle semester after semester, I sense God at work. I marvel at the Spirit’s transformation, trusting more deeply in the God who has designed us all for His redeeming purposes. Over the years, the souls of these faithful women have grown up in such courageous ways, before God and us-witnesses.
This Sabbath morning, might our souls now be coaxed to slow down in God’s presence? Sitting patiently at the base of the tree of our lives, we fade into God’s whisper, “Don’t be in a hurry.”
“Be still and know (recognize, understand) that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations! I will be exalted in the earth” (Psalm 46:10, AMP).
