Good morning…
Elizabeth, our friend’s daughter-in-law who is battling colon cancer at age thirty-seven, writes an honest, faith-filled blog. I am grateful to regularly receive her inspiring messages. This week she wrote about the joy amid her swirling river of sorrows.

I had the joy and privilege to hear Sandra McCracken in concert last night. What a gift to hear her beautiful, pure voice in person and to hear her sing truths that hit my heart in new ways in light of my diagnosis. One of my favorite songs that she sings is the song “Steadfast.” As the notes of this song echoed in the sanctuary, I wept as I consider the love and goodness of our God. He is steadfast – firm and unwavering.
I will build my house
Whether storm or drought
On the rock that does not move
I will set my hope
In your love, O Lord
And your faithfulness will prove
You are steadfast, steadfast
By the word you spoke
All the starry host
Are called out by name each night
In your watchful care
I will rest secure
As you lead us with your light
You are steadfast, steadfast
I will not trust in the strength of kings
On your promise I will stand
I will shout for joy, I will raise my voice
Hallelujah to the Lamb!
You are steadfast, steadfast
In the moment of emptiness
All was fulfilled
In the hour of darkness
Your light was revealed
In the presence of death
Your life was affirmed
In the absence of holiness,
You are still God.
You are steadfast, steadfast
You are steadfast, steadfast.
Thank you for loving us, crying with us, praying with us, making us laugh, feeding us, carrying us. We could not walk this road without all of you.

Steadfast is God’s endless love which holds our hope fast and firm. On this day of run-off voting for the Georgia senate seat, may we build our home on the rock the does not move. May we remain continually aware of the steadfast love of God anchoring us, sure and secure, amid whatever hard circumstances surround, saturate, swirl.
Therefore, my beloved brothers and sisters, be steadfast, immovable, always excelling in the work of the Lord [always doing your best and doing more than is needed], being continually aware that your labor [even to the point of exhaustion] in the Lord is not futile nor wasted [it is never without purpose] (1 Corinthians 15:58, AMP).
