Good morning…
“Do you know what you will write about each night when you wake?” she asked.
“No, I really don’t,” I said. “I just trust the Spirit to illuminate something I need to ponder.”
The winds of inspiration pick up as I take our little dog out to relieve herself. Walking back inside, I see a white bag of cut magazine photos a friend left on the front porch for our next Wordless Prayer Card making session. I carry the gift to the couch and sift through the images, combining two which most move me right now. With my phone, I snap the picture above. Precariously perched across a deep divide, I imagine myself cozying up in the lamplight of God.
Somehow I am drawn to a chapter in Scripture I don’t ever recall reading. The first and the last verses reach me and teach me.
You are wondering: What has provoked the nations to embrace anger and chaos?
Why are the people making plans to pursue their own vacant and empty greatness?
But blessings await all who trust in Him.
They will find God a gentle refuge (Psalm 2:1, 12b, VOICE).
It is true. I am wondering why so often we humans embrace anger and chaos, pursuing our own plans, vacant and empty. As we are precariously perched across a deep divide, blessings await all who trust in God. When we cozy up in the LORD’s lamplight, we find a gentle refuge.
In this quiet moment, a favorite verse rises up from within.
Lord, you are my lamp. You, Lord, turn the darkness around me into light (2 Samuel 22:29, ERV).
