Good morning…
Recently I snapped the photo above outside the home of a woman in our young mom’s class from church. I love the colorful toys and chairs in the yard, the tiny basketball hoop in the driveway, and carseats leaning up against the garage.
“Your yard and home are just so happy!” I texted her in the middle of an ordinary day. “I could not resist taking a few photos to encourage you to love these moments of fun, fleeting joy!”
“Wow, thank you!!” she soon replied. “I love our little people so much. I’m so blessed to be alongside my husband and to help train them up to know and love the Lord!”
Our brief exchange reminds me of the ordinary days of me as a young mom myself, raising with Steve our four little kids, each two years apart. Now as our youngest gets ready to graduate from The University of Georgia this weekend, I give myself quality time in the middle of the night to miss the good old ordinary days.
Somehow, as I savor my favorite memories, the Spirit draws me to a music video I have never met before. Though it is a little sappy and not everyone is married, not everyone is a parent, not everyone is wealthy, not everyone can relate, I share with you one artist’s depiction of her own ordinary days.
As you watch this family interact, what mixed emotions stir within your heart?
Work toward unity, and live in harmony with one another. Avoid thinking you are better than others or wiser than the rest; instead, embrace common people and ordinary tasks (Romans 12:16, VOICE).
