steve

Good morning…

As The Lovett School students return to the classroom today, my husband is leaving the classroom after twenty-nine years as head chaplain. Steve is branching out into the world in a meaningful new way.

“Having led group travel for the past 35 years, I’ve learned one important fact: ‘Things happen on trips,'” Steve wrote yesterday in his first Instagram post. “When we explore other lands, peoples, cultures and traditions, amazing things happen and our lives are changed. In that light, I’m excited to announce my new role as director of Lovett Alumni Expeditions, a global travel initiative for any adult who wants to experience life-changing travel opportunities. I will be promoting upcoming trips both through my Instagram as well as Lovett’s Alumni Instagram account. For more information you can contact me at sallen@lovett.org or follow the link in my Instagram bio.”

Steve’s first trip takes off this Sunday, as he and a group of eight travel to Tanzania, Africa for a bucket-list, mountaintop experience, climbing to one of the most beautiful views on earth atop Mt. Kilimanjaro. Then, I and twelve others will join Steve for his next trip in September, as we journey together to Spain for a pilgrimage to the scenic and sacred Camino De Santiago.

Now, let’s look ahead to 2025 and envision the possibilities, as a great line-up of trips opens up before us.

Pacaya, Nicaragua – Feb 5 – 9, 2025

Join Steve and Sue Allen for a “Vacation with a Purpose.” In addition to rest and relaxation at Pacaya Lodge, a 5-star resort overlooking Nicaragua’s iconic crater lake, we will look at our friendships, families, finances and faith from a more purposeful perspective. These four impactful days will set our course for the future. Details here.

Egypt – March 29 – April 9, 2025

Join us for an incredible trip to the land of the pyramids, including a cruise down the Nile. During this trip, you will travel along a portion of the Israelite exodus from Egypt, including a sunrise hike up Mt. Sinai. View the itinerary and click here for information about how to sign up and secure your spot.

Siempre Verde, Ecuador and The Galapagos Islands July 5-15, 2025

In addition to visiting a cloud forest known as Siempre Verde, we will travel to the Galapagos Islands — the volcanic archipelago in the Pacific Ocean. The Galapagos is considered one of the world’s foremost destinations for wildlife viewing. See this link for more information.

The Footsteps of Paul, Greece/Turkey – Sept 11-21, 2025

Join us as we follow the footsteps of the Apostle Paul as he sought to spread the gospel to the ancient world. We will cruise the Mediterranean, visit some of the most beautiful Greek Islands and travel to the places where Paul preached his message to the people of Philippi, Thessalonica, Corinth, Ephesus and Athens.

The Camino de Santiago – Oct 2 – 11, 2025

The Camino is a path filled with demonstrations of fervor, reflection, hospitality, art, and culture. Join us as we partner with Beyond Adventures for a pilgrimage leading to the shrine of St. James at the Cathedral of Santiago de Compestela in Galicia in northwestern Spain, where tradition holds that the remains of the apostle James are buried. Many still follow its routes as a retreat for spiritual growth.

Eventually, we will return again to Israel, a beloved, holy land where Steve has led dozens of trips with both students and adults. Until then, let’s keep in our prayers all of those locked in brutal conflict.

Good news from a faraway place is like a cool drink of water when you are hot and thirsty (Proverbs 25:25, ERV).
