broken

Good morning…

Yesterday morning, I happened upon a poem by Jan Richardson in her book The Cure for Sorrow. I was touched by Jan’s wisdom and texted these words to a few close friends. Friends who are grieving the slow loss of a loved one with Alzheimers. Friends who have gracefully lived on while mourning the death of their beloved spouse. Friends that I admire tremendously, as they live out the gentle truth of this honest poem.

“There is no remedy for love but to love more,” says Thoreau.

I marvel at the mystery of my grieving friends, friends who continue to love more, to love still, to love with a broken, beating heart.

Trust steadily in God, hope unswervingly, love extravagantly (1 Corinthians 13:13, MSG).
