Prayer-Painting

Good morning…

“I was just thinking,” yesterday I texted our Fab Five friend group, a group that has supported the cancer journey of the DeShetler family for the last fifteen years. “Jesus was on earth for 33 years, and, Jennifer, I wonder if our Father missed his son’s presence in heaven, like you are missing Audrey on earth.”

I continued, “In my heart, heaven and earth are so intertwined. We are never really apart, just together in a different way. I am praying that we feel this eternal truth deep in our bones.”

“Ben went back to work today,” Jennifer replied. “In laws are gone. My brother and sister-in-law are here for another week. I am just sitting here on the sofa in Audrey’s usual spot playing games on my iPad.”

“Ben at work is like Audrey at the Notre Dame library,” I said. “Two peas from the same pod. And you sitting playing games on the sofa reminds me of one of my favorite pictures, again two peas from the same pod. I will send when I find it.😘”

“Here we go,” I texted. “I know just where you are, and Audrey does too.”

“This is exactly where I am,” she quickly responded.

“I love it!” I smiled. “I know you. I see you. I love you, Jennifer!💚”

This is the embodiment of true love: not that we have loved God first, but that He loved us and sent His unique Son on a special mission to become an atoning sacrifice… So, my loved ones, if God loved us so sacrificially, surely we should love one another. No one has ever seen God with human eyes; but if we love one another, God truly lives in us. Consequently God’s love has accomplished its mission among us (1 John 4:10-12, VOICE).
