Good morning…
Well, two things can be true.
First, after playing terribly and losing 4-1 to Belgium in last night’s game, the USA soccer team will not win the 2026 World Cup.
Second, I love a creative commercial which brings to life our high hopes as a hosting nation. Stepping over the division, controversy, and corruption running rampant, it is fun to come together to cast a unifying vision, believing “Everything Can Happen,” stirring up the best our of God-given emotions.
Fortunately, our enduring hope is not based in goals scored, wins accrued, trophies lifted high. Our enduring hope comes from God, the Sustainer of our souls. Psalm 130:7 (VOICE) reveals the truest of all true things. Ground your hope in the Eternal. For in the Eternal lives the most loyal love, and with Him comes the most abundant redemption.
Wherever we live across the globe, with our plethora of passing emotions, we are all invited to ground our highest hope in the Eternal One. Intimately abiding at one with God, everything, yes, everything can happen!

P.S. Though it pales in comparison to God’s loyal love and his most abundant redemption, it is fun to watch again the erupting joy of this farcical commercial. Might these images of unity in our diversity offer a foretaste of our future with God?
