Good morning…
From behind a closed door in another state, one grandmother reached out to send me a YouTube video reminding her of her own grown daughter when she was young. Memories we cherish are always ours to keep, we are “sheltered in place” with a mind that remembers. The lasting memories we love most can keep us good company during these isolating, uncertain times.
Do you remember one of Jesus’ most encouraging promises? I no longer call you slaves, because a master doesn’t confide in his slaves. Now you are my friends, since I have told you everything the Father told me (John 15:15, NLT). We are not powerless slaves. Jesus compassionately confides in us. We are his dear friends. Together we live into the eternal, abundant plans of our Heavenly Father.
Might we become a back-and-forth, dynamic duo with Jesus, who reminds us day and night, “You have a friend in Me?”
“You have a friend in Me.”
“You have a friend in Me.”
“You have a friend in Me.”
Place these words on your hearts. Get them deep inside you. Tie them on your hands and foreheads as a reminder. Teach them to your children. Talk about them wherever you are, sitting at home or walking in the street; talk about them from the time you get up in the morning until you fall into bed at night. Inscribe them on the doorposts and gates of your cities so that you’ll live a long time, and your children with you, on the soil that God promised to give your ancestors for as long as there is a sky over the Earth (Deuteronomy 11:18-21, MSG).
The talented duo in the video below, father and four-year-old daughter, now come alongside us to sing a smile into our sheltered hearts. Touch on the link below and feel God’s blessing expand onto your face, into your heart, deep down inside you.
