family

Good morning…

My parents, my sister, and I made it through a good, hard day in Olmsted Falls, Ohio.

Good because we were together for the day, me with my mom, my sister with my dad, then all of us together for dinner. Hard because being injected with dye and lying still for a PET scan was really, really difficult for my dad. Good because my mom and I sorted through her box of cards, and she picked the perfect one to handwrite for a special occasion. Hard because we now have to wait until Thursday, the 11th, for the scan results and the treatment plan set forth by the doctors. Good because my mom and I could spend quality time going through the 65th wedding anniversary book we kids gifted our parents in June, recalling great memories from over the years. Hard because family visits always come to an end, after dinner my sister went home to her family and I have just one more night before I head back to Atlanta, Georgia.

For every single of us, there are many good, hard days in life. For me, yesterday was especially bittersweet.

There is nothing better than for people to eat and drink and to see the good in their hard work. These beautiful gifts, I realized, too, come from God’s hand (Ecclesiastes 2:24, VOICE).

…Sue…

P.S. Thanks for your encouraging texts and emails. All day we felt wrapped in your loving prayers, and we drifted asleep to the beauty of the almost-full moon.
