Good morning…
Last Monday afternoon and last Friday morning in our Self to Lose, Self to Find classes, we read the book excerpts highlighted in yesterday’s post, How Our True Self Grows. In between these two discussions of a fascinating “seed” analogy, on Wednesday night I taught our young mom’s class at church. As we explored the introduction of Simple Faith by Margaret Silf, look at the surround-sound sentence quietly dropped onto our lap.
“She will concede
that sometimes,
after all,
God knew best
and that good things grow
from seeds
that have been broken open
by the weather
and have laid hidden
in the dark earth.”
As our self-protective “seed coat” breaks open and falls away, the seed of our True Self lays hidden in the dark, awaiting organic growth. Any growth comes from God, so the ones who water and plant have nothing to brag about. God, who causes the growth, is the only One who matters (1 Corinthians 3:6b-7, VOICE).
Bookending our week with insight and adding a nod midweek, what beautiful seeds of hope God is nurturing in our lives.
