Good morning…
I am grateful God has given me a special friend who always tenderly reminds me of the deep meaning behind this long Memorial Day weekend. Yesterday he sent me a moving YouTube video, a gift that I now share with you. As I scan the young faces of the talented young men and women in the choir – different nationalities, different skin colors, different shapes, sizes, facial expressions – I wonder if this is a snapshot of what Jan Richardson was talking about in yesterday’s blog post, The Reason We Were Made.
this is the reason
we were made:
for this ache
that finally opens us,
for this struggle,
this grace
that scorches us
toward one another
and into
the blazing day.
—Jan Richardson from Circle of Grace: A Book of Blessings for the Seasons
As we are blessed by the song that follows, may we each be scorched by the grace that burns away all superficial differences, freeing God’s Spirit from our eternal innermost being. Reduced quietly toward one another, we live humbly together into this blazing day.
What harm could a man bring to me?
With God on my side, I will not be afraid of what comes.
The roaring praises of God fill my heart
as I trust his promises (Psalm 56:4, TPT).
…Sue…
P.S. Thank you Gina Palermo for this smokey view of the Lord’s rolling, eternal mansions.
