Good morning…

Yesterday morning, I made a mistake. I dated our blog post January 11, 2023. Not 2024. I would have missed the error, except that I pushed the “Previous” button at the top of the page and this is the old message that promptly popped up.

I Want That by Sue Allen, January 11, 2023

Good morning…

I happened upon a book and felt drawn to a handful of words.

******

Excerpt from Poems from the Thin Places by Monica R. Lavia

“My peace I give you,” said Jesus.

I want that.

Not the kind of peace that is the opposite of war, but the kind of peace that is the opposite of fear.

The kind of peace that would allow me to let go of things like old grudges, my need to be right, needless worry, that stuff.

Peace that would let me shut my head off at night and rest.

In John 14:27a (CEV) Jesus says, “I give you peace, the kind of peace only I can give.”

I want that.

I quietly request, “Lord, please infuse me with your peace.” And God’s peace, which is far beyond human understanding, will keep your hearts and minds safe in union with Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7, GNT).

Interesting isn’t it? One full year later, most of us still want the exact same thing.

Peace that only Jesus can give. Peace that is the opposite of fear. Peace that allows us to let go of old grudges, our need to be right, needless worry, all that stuff. We want God’s peace, which if far beyond human understanding, to keep our hearts and our minds in safe union with the living Christ, as we shut off our head at night and rest.

I am grateful for my human error which reminds us once again that only our Triune God – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit – gives us the powerful peace we crave. Only God gives us strong, supernatural peace amid these very trying times. In unison today, I can sense us say, “I want that!”

As we wake up in a world which wages war after war, let’s keep our hearts and our minds peacefully safe, in union with our living LORD.
