Good morning…
“Remember our definition of joy,” Kay Warren writes on page 124 in Choose Joy. “Joy is the settled assurance that God is in control of all the details of my life, the quiet confidence that ultimately everything is going to be all right, and the determined choice to praise God in all things.”
“Do you see how trust and joy are related?” she asks. “When trust in God grows, joy has freedom to grow as well. We cannot have joy and worry at the same time.”
She concludes, “A wise friend once told me, ‘When you’re worrying, you’re not trusting. And when you’re trusting, you’re not worrying.'”
Her wisdom reminds me of a poem I met this week.

THE COSMIC DANCER by Hafiz (Translator unknown)
I sometimes forget that
I was created for joy
My mind is too busy
My heart is too heavy
Heavy for me to remember
that I have been
called to dance
the sacred dance for life
I was created to smile
to love
to be lifted up
and lift others up
O sacred one
Untangle my feet
from all that ensnares
Free my soul
That we might
Dance
and that our dancing
might be contagious.
******
Untangled from all that ensnares, our soul is freed to dance in trust and joy. As our trust in God grows, might our dancing be contagious?
I pray that the God who gives hope will fill you with much joy and peace as you trust in him. Then you will have more and more hope, and it will flow out of you by the power of the Holy Spirit (Romans 15:13, ERV).
