Good morning…

Coming home from church last Sunday, the sunny blue skies created a beautiful day. When I came in the door, our little dog Gracie immediately wanted to go out onto our back porch to bask. I opened the screen door and she skipped outside, stretching out in the breezy sun.

Noticing my hunger, I put in the microwave a black bean burger and then plopped on my plate a side of yummy hummus. Hands filled, I kicked open the screen door with my foot, “Gracie, can I share the sunshine with you?” I savored my lunch, my dog, and my sacred ten minutes.

It wasn’t long before I got the tragic call that would change the weather of many a life. My husband and I hopped in the car to share our eternal Source of sunshine with a much loved family trapped in stormy darkness.

This is what God does. He gives his best—the sun to warm and the rain to nourish—to everyone, regardless: the good and bad, the nice and nasty, Matthew 5:45 (MSG),
