Good morning... "Today Danielle Coke posted a link on her Instagram account to a speech she gave at this weekend's Q Ideas Culture Summit in Nashville," she texted me yesterday. "9 minutes. So good." I trust this wise friend deeply, as together we seek to hold each other accountable to doing God's hard and holy work with our [...]
Good morning... "Hi, I just talked to Agape," texted my fun friend Corinne Adams on March 25th. (Agape Youth and Family Center supports and empowers both senior citizens and school age kids from underserved families in our community.) "They wished aloud for as many as 226 pieces of Mother's Day jewelry before April 23rd! (200 kids and 26 [...]
Good morning... I am up in the wee hours of the night pondering this quote shared by a friend: "If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together." The Spirit now draws me to a prayer, a prayer to enhance the art of going far together. ****** "A Blessing Prayer" by [...]
Good morning... Waking this Easter Monday morning, I wonder, "What does it really look like for Christ to live in us?" In the quiet of these early hours, my mind is drawn back to a letter I received on Saturday from the leader of our Disaster Response Team from church. A lightbulb goes on right now: "This is [...]
Good morning... Last Monday morning I woke feeling like a "failure." I had facilitated our final Friday morning class and was scheduled to teach our last Zoom class on Monday afternoon. I began the semester writing an interactive, online study with God, but, as we came to the final week, our Waking Up Whole: Mind, Body, and Soul [...]
Good morning... Yesterday I celebrated the spring equinox in a very meaningful way. The word equinox comes from Latin, meaning "equality of night and day." Experiencing a balanced amount of light and darkness, our long winter officially tipped into spring 2021. Leaving the house at 6:45 am before the sun rose and not returning home until 8:45 pm [...]
Good morning... Yesterday was my day to get my first COVID vaccine. As I walked from square to square, each six feet apart, I felt like a kid in a cake walk at an elementary school fair. Lots of people. Lots of hope. Lots of quiet excitement. Skin color, body type, and ages varied, but collectively a bunch [...]
Good morning... Five years ago today the spirit of a young man returned to the God who gave it and later in the week his body was returned to the ground from which we came. Our grieving community experienced with new eyes one of my favorite Bible verses: Then shall the dust [out of which God made man’s [...]
Good morning... In the morning I got word that my high school classmate was diagnosed with ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig's disease, and in the evening we took dinner to a family returning home from an amazing two hour memorial service for a dear friend who died this week of ALS. Deeply touched by the video shared [...]
Good morning... "1 year ago today the world went sideways," my husband Steve wrote into our family group text first thing yesterday morning. "Mom, Ky (25), and I were at a Hawks game when the NBA season was canceled. Adrianna (21) found out she had to quickly get home from her study abroad semester in Spain before international [...]
