Good morning…

Right now, I sense God’s Spirit whispering: “Celebrate all of life’s seasons with Me.” Letting go of our own efforts to “just let go,” we begin to trust deeply God’s unsettling promise.

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts,

    neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord.

“As the heavens are higher than the earth,

    so are my ways higher than your ways

    and my thoughts than your thoughts.

As the rain and the snow come down from heaven,

and do not return to it without watering the earth

and making it bud and flourish,

    so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater,

so is my word that goes out from my mouth:

    It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire

    and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.

You will go out in joy and be led forth in peace;

the mountains and hills will burst into song before you,

and all the trees of the field will clap their hands” (Isaiah 55:8-12, NIV).

Letting ourselves go, we free-fall into the soft silence of solitude. We make room for the life-giving word to rain down from the mammoth mouth of our mysterious Maker. God’s higher ways and God’s higher thoughts descend from heaven at the exact right time, filling our emptiness, transforming our world, before returning home, fruitful. Our Sustainer’s unexpected ways water us, making our true self bud and God’s healing properties flourish. Miraculously, our ordinary lives yield fresh seed to sow. We sow, grow, and harvest eternal wisdom before baking warm bread for many to eat.

What is there to fear in this unpredictable life? Even if we are reduced back to a stumplike-state, in my life and in yours the Almighty is accomplishing all God desires, achieving a higher purpose we do not comprehend. Feeding upon God’s endless abundance, we eventually will go out in joy once again, led forth to join creation’s parade of peace. The mountains will burst with song and all of the trees will clap in sync as we celebrate together the sacred cycle of seasons.

What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? (Romans 8:31-32, NIV).
