Good morning…
Growing up in Berea, Ohio, a suburb of Cleveland, one thing I remember of the summer months is chasing lightening bugs in our back yard just before bed. We’d poke holes in the tops of mason jars then go outside to catch as many lightening bugs as we could track down. Any of the tiny miracle creatures we could cup in our bare hands would be dropped in our personal jar and brought inside for the night.
I remember setting my jar beside my bed and watching, mesmerized, as the living lights flickered at different times. On. Off. On. Off. On. Off. Drifting to sleep with my illuminating companions is a warm, wonderful memory. In the morning, we would take our jars outside, open our lids, and share our lightening bugs freely with the world.
As I begin my “sue2you” blog, I envision each morning message as a mini morsel of God’s light, flickering in my darkness before illuminating you. My hope is that we each chase down wisdom, cupping divine truth in our own bare hands. May the words I have collected in my mason jar at night be your illuminating companions as you wake from sleep. Be filled with the glow of God’s mesmerizing power before opening the lid to your true self, releasing the LORD’s light into your own back yard.
“I have placed you here as a light for other nations; you must take my saving power to everyone on earth,” Isaiah 49:6b (CEV),
