Good morning…
The timing was symbolically perfect.
Wednesday, November 30th: Eerie skies. Blustery winds. Atlanta’s tornado warnings uprooted ‘normal’.
Thursday, December 1st: As wild weather died down, the Christmas season sped up. Parties and performances. Shopping and shipping. Friends, family, favorite foods. More. More. More. Autumn’s ‘normal’ uprooted.
As darkness descended on a crazy day, I drove into the whirlwind of downtown traffic to experience a Service of Lessons and Carols, performed by the chorus of our two youngest kids. Soul-touching songs. Life-saving scriptures. We were ushered into the calm eye of December’s sudden storm. One by one, ‘Silent Night’ igniting our candles as the Light of the world burned anew within us.
Friday, December 2nd: May the LORD’s silent light remain our calm center, our quiet eye in December’s swirling storm.
“You are the light of [Christ to] the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden; nor does anyone light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house” (Matthew 5:14-15, AMP).
